Executive preface

MMeftf / MMbooks / MMBlytt Ltd N is in the planning phase of an innovative concept known as the Artist Residency, or the abbreviated Art Res Europe, situated on the west coast of Norway. This location offers a scenic view of Hjeltefjorden, Herdla, Øygarden, and Fedje, alongside an small and stunning view of the North Atlantic Ocean, – also to the surrounding mountains, and the night light from the distant mountains in Sogn- & Fjordane, Stryn, Olden & Loen etc in the long distance horizon. In good weather you can also see the main mountain of Bergen, Ulriken with its light at the top.

The residency is located in Straume, within the Øygarden municipality, conveniently positioned just outside of Bergen. It is easily accessible from Flesland Airport, Bergen Train Station, and Bergen Bus Station (Skyss Platform/GATE G).

The area features excellent public transportation options to the near Bergen countryside/AR and other OCEAN based facilities, shops & shoppping centers 15 min away by bus or bikecycle, pharmacies etc.

Art R’et will provide daytime seminars and short-term accommodation, including full-time and exclusive short-term rentals for up to five guests (one room will be designated for security reasons concerning personal belongings and artwork).

Spend time away from your normal routine to focus deeply on your creative practice, make new work, or research ideas. Rent a small boat if you want, go fishing for crabs or cod, etc., or join us at MMbooks/MMblytt Ltd N for a short sailing trip via the islets and out into the fjord outside & back. Take photos, do free diving, or write notes on your new or next book, etc. Take a short bath from our own little dock with wide and secure steps into the fresh & salty water.

Daily Life and Activities

• Make art, write books, paint canvases etc:
  Use dedicated studio space and time to build a new body of work.
  
• Research and experiments for your ambitions in art:
  Try new materials, test wild ideas, or explore concepts without the pressure to finish a final product.
  
• Explore the local area, its stunning 360 degrees around the spacious cabin with a basement workshop and a small outhouse: Draw inspiration from a new physical, cultural, or natural environment. Plus amazing bonfires etc.

Recover from potential or stated creative burnout and slow down your pace. 

Where exactly is the AR located?

West Coast, Øygarden Straume, Gamle Foldnes Kai—just a quick boat trip to the AR or a short hike on a beautiful path.

Essentials: Bring your own supplies and drinks, or pre-book supplies, –
or utilize local stores/Foodora/Volt, etc.

Enjoy breathtaking and artistic views of the Sea (Hjeltefjorden) and the North Atlantic Ocean.

Community and Program Expectations

  Share meals, talk about art, philosophy and build professional networks with other resident artists from Europa or beyond.
• Give back: Lead community workshops, give public talks, teach classes via Webinars, or host open studio events.
